jesus said!

text:  (John 11:25-26)  "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. {26} "And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"

In verse 25 Jesus said, “Do you believe this?” {NKJV} One way in which we might paraphrase this is to say “Do you trust in Me”? When someone asks you if you trust them or says “Trust Me” it usually makes us suspicious or at the very least we think these to be curious words! Nevertheless Jesus challenges us with these words and more. He says “listen to me, believe in Me, change for me.” Let’s look at some of the words Jesus has said to us.

Jesus Said; “Believe Who I Am”

Who do you say that you are Jesus? Jesus answers this question with several different responses, read what He says!  (John 11:25)  "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." Jesus informs us that He is “the resurrection and the life”. Not only that be He tells us that through Him we may have eternal life.

Jesus said He “is the light of the world.” (John 8:12)  "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." Since we live in a world of darkness these should be very comforting words.

Jesus said, “I am the door.” (John 10:9)  "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture." We are all looking to gain entrance to heaven; Jesus is the door that we must enter through.

Jesus Said I am the good shepherd”. (John 10:11)  "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." The good shepherd has given His life for us. We as lost sheep certainly are in need of a shepherd to look over, care for and give His life as a ransom for our sins.

Jesus said “I am the true vine”. (John 15:1-5)  "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. {2} "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. {3} "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. {4} "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. {5} "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." As the vine Jesus gives life and strength to we who are the branches. We know that without the vine the branches cannot live. Without Jesus we have no hope of eternal life.

Jesus said, “I am” Expound upon for us Jesus. Jesus said “before Abraham was I am”. (John 8:58)  "Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM. " This should be read in context with verse 24, (John 8:24)  "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." To die in our sins is a frightening thought isn’t it? This what will happen if you don’t believe that Jesus is who He claims to be.

Jesus said, believe what I do!

(John 20:30-31)  "And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; {31} but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name." Because of their testimony we can believe who Jesus is, what He taught. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John recorded the life, {including the miracles and signs He performed}  death and resurrection of Jesus so that we might believe and have eternal Life.
